My hope, as one who arrived in Alaska in 1955, is that we will give our three electoral college votes to democracy.
This demolition will destroy Anchorage’s historical center, and no amount of fake facade and/or fake sign will make up for this destruction.
Now we will have a hole where the theater used to be, and who knows when its alleged replacement will be built?
The people of this country need help and need it now, and any reduction by Republicans will hurt suffering Americans.
OPINION: No more public money should go to the Anchorage LIO debacle. There should be an audit, and Alaskans should remember the names of lawmakers who have failed their responsibility to the public purse.
OPINION: Alaska lawmakers must create state budgets wisely and stop wasting tens of millions of dollars on sole-source boondoggles like the LIO, the State Capitol building and many other harebrained ideas that don't benefit enough Alaskans.
OPINION: We should not invest millions of public money in a private enterprise that will most benefit a few, when we should be investing those same millions in the restoration of a landmark that will benefit us all.
OPINION: Id love to see the 4th Avenue Theatre back in the fabric of our community, just as Id like to see respect, tolerance, and common sense return to the Legislature.
