I appreciate the desire to have young legislators and the perspective they bring working in Juneau, but we are a citizen Legislature, and that means having a full spectrum.
I’m not saying we can quit oil immediately, but should we open another multidecade development project in a very sensitive part of our ecosystem?
I ask tough questions in committee and ultimately try to take the best vote, one that I believe to be the best for the people I represent.

Maybe it’s time for Alaska to look at a new approach and no longer be a quota state.
Many politicians feel the need to support a “full” PFD to get re-elected, but it really isn’t fiscally responsible. We need to do what’s best for the state in the long run.
OPINION: From a small business perspective, Medicaid expansion is the right call for Alaska.
