OPINION: If state leaders turn their budget knives to university administration, they'll be making educated cuts with the mission in mind.
OPINION: In times of fiscal difficulty for our state, the University of Alaska should be regarded as the unique entity that it is. Applying across-the-board budget cuts there will not serve us well.
Commentary: Most public radio stations in the 1970's were intended to be alternatives to commercial radio, playing classical music, folk music and jazz, music genres not usually associated with a mass audience. We were different. At KOTZ in the 1970's, we served the needs of the far-flung community of Northwest Alaska.
OPINION: Scientific research conducted here in Alaska can have a big impact on our state's economy, its young people, and ultimately its future.
