The right thing to do is ensure that a portion of that wealth is constitutionally distributed according to a fair and equitable formula.

If I had the vote, I would vote to impeach. As to how Sen. Lisa Murkowski chooses to vote, she will have my total support.

The situation we face as a people is tough but not beyond repair.

Payment of $1,400 to every Alaskan eligible for a PFD last year will help ease economic uncertainty caused by low oil prices and the COVID-19 virus.

Instead of making our budget problems easier to solve, raiding the PFD has resulted in a massive loss of trust between Alaskans and their elected leaders.

We believe a special session addressing the dividend is critical to the financial well-being of our fund and rights of all residents, the Alaska resource shareholders.

Anything short of full constitutional protection of the PFD is unjust and robs every Alaskan of their equal share of our savings.

OPINION: Every tax is unfair to some segment of the population, but to ask everyone to pay something is the cost of civilization.

OPINION: Let's take our Alaska dividends as citizens of the owner state, but then let's pay our way as responsible owners with an eye to our children's future here.

OPINION: All Alaskans must contribute to a balanced budget, but let's not gut either the dividend or the Permanent Fund.

OPINION: The boom is over, and those who think that the oil "sugar daddy" will come back are living in a dream land. Yes we will find more oil, but in the end we must pay our way.

OPINION: Those want to avoid taxes at all costs would reduce the value of Alaska's Permanent Fund and do long-term damage to the state. Let's keep the Fund and pay our way.

OPINION: Alaskans forgot a timeless lesson of that dismal science, economics: There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

OPINION: Let's hope we help the Legislature and Gov. Walker do the right thing and have Alaskans share the burden of lower state revenues.
