Implementing new taxes to pay for a higher dividend that is already taxable? I don’t believe that is what most Alaskans really want.
Alaska needs a senator who is in the room fighting for Alaska, not a foot soldier falling in line to fight for their party.
Don’t overdraw the Permanent Fund. Don’t impose taxes merely to pay for a high dividend. Don’t cut essential state services.
Let’s hope that next year, the Legislature will continue to be sensible and responsible with Alaska’s finances.
Some say Don is getting too old; well, I say he is still the most effective person in the House.
OPINION: Removal of the drilling rig Kulluk from the rocks on Sitkalidak Island was just short of a miracle. And I am using the term "miracle" to describe the perseverance of the Shell management and staff. They insisted on saving the rig, and doing it in a manner that was safe for those involved as well as the wildlife and habitat that could have been affected.
