5 things to do in Anchorage this weekend

Midnight Sun Theatre’s Serial Bowl

7 p.m. Friday and Saturday; Jerry Harper Studio at UAA Fine Arts Building, 3700 Alumni Drive

The second episode of Anchorage’s episodic one-act festival returns. Writers from around the world have written one-act episodes and the audience votes on the scripts that return for future episodes. Tickets are $20 for adults or $15 for students, seniors and first responders.

Northern Nights Nashville Singer-Songwriter Series

8 p.m. Friday; Atwood Concert Hall, 621 W. Sixth Ave.

The first of this series featuring country songwriters includes Jerrod Niemann, Andy Griggs, Rob Hatch and James Otto. The second volume of the series is schedule for late March. Tickets start at $62.

Bounce Back Charity Game

3 p.m. Saturday; Alaska Airlines Center, 3550 Providence Drive

The UAA basketball teams partner with JustServe, Clare House, and Catholic Social Services for this fundraiser. The Seawolves men’s team takes on UAF while the women’s team faces Western Washington at 5:15 p.m. Free admission with a soft item donation. Items needed include warm socks, mittens, gloves (for kids and adults), winter coats (kids and adults), toilet paper, paper towels, new bed pillows, new twin sheet sets, and new twin comforters.

Freedom Shred

Saturday, Sunday and Monday; Hilltop Ski Area, 7015 Abbott Road

This weekend shred party has a variety of courses to try, a DJ, giveaways plus ski gear demos. It features motivational speaker, author and athlete Spencer J. Conley. Three-day passes are $100 and include lessons and rental equipment.

Steep Canyon Rangers

7:30 p.m. Saturday; Atwood Concert Hall, 621 W. Sixth Ave.

This Grammy-winning bluegrass band returns to Anchorage for a night at Atwood Concert Hall. The North Carolina-based group is known for their hot licks and collaborations with comedian/banjo picker Steve Martin. Tickets start at $36.
