Flying high at the Fur Rondy blanket toss

Children soared through the air during the Fur Rondy blanket toss Feb. 25, 2017, in downtown Anchorage.

It takes about 40 volunteers to hold the 20-year-old bearded seal skin blanket.

"The blanket toss is a celebratory event usually following a successful whale hunt," said Gregory Nothstine, the facilitator of the blanket toss. "I think I've been facilitating this on and off for 15 years. I just have fun doing it."
