Annual Anchorage 'Show and Shine’ car show brings out the best

Alaska’s biggest car show, with about 300 vehicles, from tractors to a Ferrari and everything in between, were parked on the Delaney Park Strip near downtown Anchorage during the 41st annual Jay Ofsthun Memorial Show & Shine Sunday, Aug. 4.

This year’s Jay Ofsthun Memorial Trophy for the best car over 25 years old went to Eli and Judy Powell for their 1959 Cadillac Eldorado. The car is one of the last cars to leave Cuba during the Castro revolution in 1959. His father owned the car for decades in Florida before the Powells had it completely restored down to the frame before bringing it to Alaska recently.
