Jahnna Hajdukovich had game-highs of 14 points and four steals Friday as the University of Alaska Anchorage beat Winston-Salem State 73-46 at the Alaska Airlines Center.
The Seawolves (4-0) have opened the season with wins over Johnson & Wales, Hillsdale College, Texas Permian Basin and now the Rams (3-2), who came in with a three-game winning streak.
“I was pleased with our intensity at the outset and happy with the way we responded each time they made a little run,” said UAA head coach Ryan McCarthy, whose team stretched its home winning streak to 31 games. “There are still a lot of things we can improve on, but it’s a good sign to see how balanced we were offensively tonight.”
The Seawolves built a 36-21 lead going into halftime and then put the game away by outscoring Winston-Salem State 22-6 after coming out of the break.
UAA’s Rachel Ingram came off the bench and provided a spark offensively with 12 points — all on 3-pointers. Tannae Voliva made her presence felt in the paint, contributing eight points and a team-high eight rebounds. Nicole Pinckney handed out a game-high six assists to go along with five points.
The Rams were led by Melody Prichard, who finished with 10 points.
Winston-Salem and UAA were set to play again at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Alaska Airlines Center.
