Bowling Green scored three times in the final nine minutes to pull away for a 5-2 Western Collegiate Hockey Association victory over the UAA hockey team Thursday night at Sullivan Arena.
The game was tied 2-2 after the teams traded goals in the first three minutes of the third period, and it stayed tied for a little more than eight minutes.
Bowling Green seized control by netting two goals in a span of 3:31. Lukas Craggs scored an unassisted goal to put the Falcons ahead, and Stephen Baylis struck soon after that to make it a two-goal game.
Craggs scored into an empty net with 57 seconds remaining for his 10th goal of the season. Teammate Max Johnson also scored his 10th goal for the Falcons on a second-period power play.
UAA's goals came from Tomi Hiekkavirta and Jarrett Brown. It was the first career goal for Hiekkavirta, who lifted UAA to a 1-1 tie after two periods.
Brown and Jordan Xavier both finished with two points. Brown assisted on Hiekkavirta's goal and Xavier assisted on both goals. Alex Jackstadt also assisted on Brown's goal.
Bowling Green (18-9-6 overall, 15-5-5 WCHA) outshot the Seawolves 30-28. Ryan Bednard made 26 saves for the Falcons, and Brody Claeys stopped 25 for UAA.
The Seawolves (2-25-4, 2-20-3) meet Bowling Green again Friday at Sullivan Arena for their final home game of the season.
