Nevada stages huge comeback for Shootout victory over Oakland

The Nevada Wolf Pack staged one of the biggest comebacks in the history of the GCI Great Alaska Shootout to beat Oakland 82-78 Wednesday night at the Alaska Airlines Center.

Nevada trailed 44-28 at the half but outscored the Golden Grizzlies by 20 points for the win. In the 39 years of the Shootout, no team has rallied from a bigger halftime deficit.

Nevada will play Buffalo in a 5:30 p.m. semifinal game Friday. Oakland faces UAA at noon Friday.

Marcus Marshall scored 21 of his game-high 25 points in the second half to lead the Wolf Pack of the Mountain West Conference.

Nevada (4-1) recovered from 27 percent field-goal shooting in the first half to shoot 66.7 percent in the second half.

Cameron Oliver added 22 points and Elijah Foster and Jordan Caroline each scored 10 for Nevada, with Caroline grabbing 10 rebounds for the double-double.

Oakland (4-1), a Horizon League team, got 23 points from Sherron Dorsey-Walker and 10 points and 11 rebounds from Isaiah Brock.

Nevada tied the game 58-58 midway through the second half on a steal and dunk by Lindsey Drew.

The game went back and forth until the Wolf Pack took the lead for good with Marshall's traditional three-point with 4:35 remaining.
