Two Alaskans named to U.S. Nordic Combined Ski Team

Two Alaskans have been named to the U.S. Nordic Combined Ski Team for 2024-25.

Anchorage’s Carter Brubaker, 20, was named to the C Team.

Brubaker is a Service High School graduate and trained locally with Zak Hammill with TeamAK Ski Jumping and Jan Buron, the head coach of Alaska Winter Stars. Brubaker was on the USA’s World Junior Championships team in 2021 and 2023 and finished in 27th place at the 2023 Whistler Junior World Championships.

Anchorage’s Skyler Amy, also a Service High grad, was named to the Development Team. Amy, 18, competed with TeamAK Ski Jumping and Alaska Winter Stars and was a member of the 2023 and 2024 Junior World Championships teams.

“This team has great potential for the year ahead,” Jill Brabec president of Nordic Combined USA, said in a release. “We are committed to funding these athletes so that they can pursue their sport at the highest level and represent the US on the international stage.”

The pair is currently in Norway training for the season. The World Cup season will kick off in Ruka, Finland, on Nov. 28. It runs into 2025 with the final women’s stop in Oslo, Norway, March 14-16 and Lahti, Finland, March 21-23 for the men.
