Nearly a dozen skiers with APU ties nominated to compete in Period 1 of the 2024-25 World Cup season

USA Ski and Snowboard on Friday announced the nominees to compete in Period 1 of the 2024-25 World Cup cross country skiing season — a list that includes 10 skiers and one alumnus from the APU Nordic Ski Center.

On the men’s team, the APU representatives include Michael Earnhart, JC Schoonmaker, Gus Schumacher, Zanden McMullen, Luke Jager, Scott Patterson, Hunter Wonders and David Norris, who is the lone alumnus. Meanwhile, the women’s team features the trio of Renae Anderson, Rosie Brennan and Novie McCabe.

Team USA is coming off a banner season in which Schumacher became the first American man to win a World Cup race in more than 40 years. On the women’s side, Olympic medalist Jessie Diggins of Minnesota won the overall World Cup points race while Olympic teammate Rosie Brennan placed seventh.

Period 1 will run from Nov. 29 to Dec. 15 with races taking place in Finland, Norway and Switzerland.
