Anchorage’s Carter Brubaker has been named to the 2022-23 USA nordic combined team, according to USA Nordic Sport.
Brubaker, 18, who skis with Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage, has been a competitor on national teams before. In 2019, he was believed to be the first Alaskan to be named to a national nordic combined team when he landed on the junior squad.
Nordic combined is a pairing of two disciplines — ski jumping and cross-country skiing. Brubaker is one of three 18-year-olds nominated to the team.
Three other Anchorage skiers were nominated to the national junior nordic combined team. Skyler Amy, 16, Elias Oswald, 15, and Ronen Woods, 15, are all members of the Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage program.
Skiers can accept the nominations prior to the 2022-23 season. The final teams will be named this fall. In total, 41 American athletes were nominated to the USA Nordic Sport teams for nordic combined and ski jumping at the national and junior national levels.
