Kendall Kramer of Fairbanks finished 16th and was the top American in a cross-country sprint race Saturday at the Winter Youth Olympics in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Kramer finished 14th in the qualification round of the 1.8-kilometer race to advance to the semifinals. She was sixth there and failed to make the 10-girl finals.
Kramer is one of three Alaskans competing at the Winter Youth Olympics, a multi-sport international competition that began Jan. 9 and ends on Wednesday.
Earlier in the games, Maja Lapkass of Anchorage placed 69th in a 10K girls biathlon race. In Saturday’s nordic combined competition, Carter Brubaker of Anchorage did not start.
