Georgia Lantz skis into top 3 in three slalom races to lead Alaska skiers at Washington’s Crystal Mountain

Georgia Lantz posted top-three overall finishes in all three slalom races to lead Alaska skiers at the Pacific Northwest Slalom Cup last week at Washington’s Crystal Mountain.

Lantz placed second in one race and third in the other two. In the same day she claimed her second-place finish, a pair of her Alyeska Ski Club U16 teammates — Abby Kragt and Daniel Ferucci — each registered fourth-place overall finishes.

In all, seven Alaskans skied their way into the overall top 15 during the three-race slalom series: Lantz with her three top-threes; Ferucci (4th place, 7th place); Kragt (4th place, 12th place); Max Johnsen (9th place, 10th place, 11th place); Jimmy Horrigan (9th place); Sophie Neuberger (11th place, 14th place) and Brooke-Lynn Allard (15th place).

Ferucci earned age-group titles in two of the races and Horrigan took an age-group win in the other. Johnsen was the age-group runner-up in all three boys races.

At a FIS race at Colorado’s Winter Park last week, U19 skier Randi Von Wichman of the Alyeska Ski Club claimed second place overall in the first race of a three-race series. Kennedy Kane added finishes of 15th and 17th place in the other two races.

Next up for the skiers are races on their home hill — the Jan. 17-20 Coca Cola Classic at Alyeska.
