Abigail Kragt and George Von Wichman each skied to two podium finishes Monday at Alyeska Resort, where Under-14 and Under-12 age-group racers seized the slopes at the Coca-Cola Holiday Classic.
Kragt collected gold and silver in a pair of girls giant slalom races, and Von Wichman got first and third in the two boys races.
Kragt soared to a 10-second victory in the second race. In the first race, she placed two seconds behind winner Ava Schweiger.
In the boys’ races, Von Wichman nabbed a narrow victory in the second race by edging Coen Niclai by .26 of a second.
Daniel Ferucci won the first race by about seven seconds over Maxwell Carl. Von Wichman was third.
It was the third day of the four-day alpine race series and the first day for U14 and U12 skiers. U19 and U16 skiers competed on Saturday and Sunday.
The course was hard-packed and firm as temperatures dropped, defying expectations of warmer, wet conditions.
All of the winners were U14 skiers, but two U12 racers claimed spots on the podium -- Reese Woodward placed third in the first girls race, and Jaxon Murphy finished third in the second boys race.
Racing wraps up Tuesday with U12 and U14 slalom races.
