Fairbanks Ice Dogs are coming to town for exhibition hockey games with Anchorage Wolverines

The Anchorage Wolverines will start learning how they stack up in the North American Hockey League on Sunday and Monday when they play exhibition games in the Royal Systems Ice Center at the O’Malley Sports Complex.

The first-year franchise plays the Fairbanks Ice Dogs at 5:07 p.m. both nights. An outdoor beer garden starts serving at 3 p.m. and doors open at 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or online at myalaskatix.com.

All three of Alaska’s Tier II junior teams start the regular season on the road. On Sept. 10, the Ice Dogs play the Minnesota Magicians and the Kenai River Brown Bears take on the Chippewa (Wisconsin) Steel.

The Wolverines are slated to debut Sept. 15 in the Showcase, a multi-divisional NAHL tournament in Blaine, Minnesota, against the El Paso Rhinos.
