South, Dimond roll to CIC flag football shutouts

The South Wolverines and Dimond Lynx both posted shutouts Tuesday in Cook Inlet Conference flag football.

South dispatched Bartlett 33-0, and Dimond flattened Chugiak 33-0.

Maile Wilcox rushed for two touchdowns and Ellie Cunningham turned two passes from Kali Hibbert into touchdowns to lead Dimond.

Hibbert completed six of seven passes for 56 yards, with Cunningham collecting three of her passes for 47 yards, including touchdown plays of 13 and 6 yards.

Wilcox ran for 64 yards on eight carries and provided a defensive boost with eight pulls and an interception.

Mai Mateaki also contributed on both sides of the ball for the Lynx, rushing for 131 yards on 11 carries and making five pulls. Other contributions came from Xiomara Chavez, who scored on a 6-yard run, and Lauren Tufaga, who had five pulls, four for a loss of yardage.

South pulled off several big plays to silence the Golden Bears. Quinn Fedullo sprinted 96 yards for a touchdown and quarterback Olivia Heartwell connected with Emily McCutcheon for a 90-yard TD and with Georgia Lantz for a 60-yard TD.

Heartwell also ran for a 12-yard touchdown, and the defense produced a touchdown when Madison McDonald returned an interception for six points.
