Homer, Palmer to meet for Division II state hockey championship

The Homer Mariners and Palmer Moose will tangle for the Division II state hockey championship Saturday at the Menard Center in Wasilla.

Homer and Palmer advanced by winning semifinal games Friday night. Homer, the defending champion, downed North Pole 4-1, and Palmer swamped Soldotna 6-1.

The 1 p.m. championship game will be a rematch of the 2019 title game, an overtime contest won by Palmer 6-5.

Both teams will be playing for their second small-school crown. Attendance will be limited, and the game will be livestreamed on the National Federation of High Schools website.

In Friday’s consolation games, Monroe Catholic beat Tri-Valley 4-2 and Kenai Central topped Houston 4-2. There is no third-place game.
