Dimond Lynx move closer to CIC regular-season hockey title with come-from-behind win over Service

The Dimond Lynx scored three unanswered goals in the third period Wednesday night at Ben Boeke Arena to beat the Service Cougars 6-4 and maintain their grip on first place in the Cook Inlet Conference with less than two weeks left in the regular season.

Down 4-3 after two periods, the Lynx tied the game with Dawson Thompson’s goal midway through the third. They got the game-winner from Teague Porter with about five minutes left, and Tyler Christiansen provided an insurance goal 33 seconds later.

The late outburst spoiled a 41-save performance by Service goaltender Mason Brooks. Hunter Katness stopped 21 shots for the Lynx.

It was the seventh straight CIC win for Dimond, which improved to 11-1-1 in league play with one game left in the regular season. Second-place West is 8-1-1 with four games left and third-place South is 8-2-1 with three games left.

Service slipped to 4-6-0 and has four games left to try to move up from sixth place in the eight-team league.

Brent Edmonson scored two goals and two assists to figure in all four goals for the Cougars, who were celebrating Senior Night. Porter had two goals and an assist for Dimond.
