Lathrop QB Jace Henry is coaches’ pick for Alaska football player of the year

Jace Henry, who scored 37 touchdowns in nine games this season for the Lathrop Malemutes, is Alaska’s football player of the year.

Henry, a senior quarterback, beat out a field of three players that also included Dhar Montalbo of West and Owen Mulhaney of Houston.

Earlier this month, Henry was named the Division II player of the year, Montalbo was named the Division I player of the year and Mulhaney was named the Division III player of the year by the Association of Alaska Football Coaches. Last weekend, Henry earned the statewide award from the coaches association.

Henry’s season included 23 rushing touchdowns and 14 passing touchdowns, according to Fairbanks TV station KTVF.
