East's Amari Brown eluded Service defender Jocelyn Chantono just long enough to score the only touchdown in a Cook Inlet Conference flag football game Saturday at East High.
The third-quarter touchdown lifted the T-birds to a 7-0 victory.
Carrying the ball with one hand, Brown extended her arm far enough to get it past the goal line a heartbeat before Chantono grabbed her flag.
South 24, Chugiak 7
The South Wolverines scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter Saturday to defeat Chugiak 24-7 at South High.
Trailing 7-6 after three quarters, South struck quickly in the fourth quarter with Rhylee Reed's 15-yard touchdown pass to Karsyn Decker. The Wolverines took advantage of good field possession on their next drive, which ended with Reed's 14-yard TD pass to Maris Soland.
Shelby Ottum's interception gave the ball right back to the Wolverines and set up Reed's third touchdown of the quarter, a 22-yard run.
Reed and Ottum contributed on both sides of the ball to help the Wolverines push their record to 3-0. Reed passed for 41 yards and rushed for 39, Ottum passed for 57 and rushed for 19, and defensively each player finished with four pulls and an interception.
Willow Oswald added six pulls, four for a loss.
Chugiak scored on the first play of the second half on a catch-and-run play by Mariah Perish, who turned a pass from Chasity Horn into an 86-yard touchdown.
Dimond 46, Eagle River 0
Christine Cristobal and Angelline Nageak each scored two touchdowns and Faith Nilles picked off two passes to propel Dimond past Eagle River 46-0 in Eagle River.
Cristobal dashed 86 yards on the game's first play and the undefeated Lynx never looked back on their way to their fourth win in four games.
Cristobal rushed for 186 yards on seven carries and caught a 33-yard TD pass from Savannah Johansen. Nageak rushed for 165 yards on five carries, scoring runs of 31 and 55 yards.
Mauri Butzke added a 62-yard touchdown and Nilles provided a defensive score with a 24-yard pick-six. Jessica Tolentino grabbed 10 pulls for the Dimond defense.
West 24, Bartlett 0
Ahkayzee Gallow-Davis threw for 186 yards and four touchdowns to fuel West's 24-0 CIC win over visiting Bartlett.
Two of her touchdown passes went to Nyeneia John with two receiving touchdowns. Tazhay Wyche and Taylor Stone also hauled in touchdown passes.
