A scoreless third period and a scoreless overtime left South and Eagle River tied 2-2 Thursday in a Cook Inlet Conference hockey game at Ben Boeke Arena.
Eagle River took a 1-0 lead on Brandon Lajoie's first-period goal. South came back with two goals in a three-minute span from Kylar Gutierra and Patrick Rush.
Eagle River answered with Joshua Linn's game-tying goal 43 seconds after Rush knotted the score, and that was the end of scoring.
South outshot Eagle River 9-5 in the third period and 5-4 in overtime. Hannah Hogenson made 22 saves for South and Ryan Gray had 34 for Eagle River.
In nonconference action, Wasilla beat West 4-2 in Wasilla.
