Seward’s Lydia Jacoby earned a silver medal Thursday at the 2023 USA Swimming National Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana, placing second in the 50-meter breaststroke.
Jacoby’s time of 29.81 seconds was a personal best, and just fourth-hundredths of a second behind winner Lilly King.

Jacoby is coming off a freshman campaign at the University of Texas where she won an NCAA title in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Jacoby broke on the scene in July 2021, earning the biggest win of her young career in the 100-meter breaststroke at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
She’s going for her first national title Friday in the 100-meter breaststroke. The event is being broadcast on Peacock starting at 3 p.m. AKDT and live-streamed at usaswimming.org.
