Anchorage fighter Gina Mazany loses in 2nd round at UFC 262

Anchorage fighter Gina Mazany’s bid for a second straight UFC victory ended Saturday when she was knocked out in the second round of a flyweight bout at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Brazil’s Priscila Cachoeira finished Mazany with a flurry of strikes, including a hard right to the face that drew blood.

Mazany, a 32-year-old Bartlett High graduate, dropped to 7-5 as a pro and 2-5 in the UFC.

She used her strength as a grappler to take down Cachoeria (10-3) a couple of times in the first round, but Cachoeria’s striking ability made the difference in the second round.

The fight was an early prelim contest at UFC 262, which was headlined by a lightweight title fight between Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler.
