Jamie Ashcroft, the recently graduated UAA athlete who dominated Great Northwest Athletic Conference sprinting in her four seasons as a Seawolf, has been nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year award.
Ashcroft, who graduated with a 3.85 grade-point average in health sciences, earlier this year was named a first-team Academic All-America. She also was an NCAA All-America athlete and won three conference titles outdoors in both the 100 and 200 meters. Indoors, Ashcroft won four straight 60-meter titles and also won three 200-meter titles.
She's one of 543 women across all NCAA divisions nominated for the Woman of the Year award. Thirty finalists will be revealed in September. Ashcroft was one of two GNAC nominees, along with Western Washington Division II national champion javelin thrower Bethany Drake.
