Michelle Baxter won Sunday's fourth annual Her Tern Half Marathon in Anchorage, topping a field of more than 600 women in the 13.1-miler run primarily along bicycle trails.
Baxter hit the finish line on Delaney Park Strip in 1 hour, 30 minutes, 17 seconds, to earn a 35-second victory over Kelly Staruch (1:30:52). Halladie Wilt finished third (1:31:30).
The race, which also featured the 6.5-mile Quarter Tern, drew more than 900 combined finishers.
Najeeby Quinn claimed the Quarter Tern for the second straight year, finishing in 42:19. Sarah Johnson took second (45:40) and Rachel Samuelson finished third (49:42).
Baxter's victory in the half marathon was the first by anyone other than Anna Dalton, who seized the title in the first three editions of the race.
