After record-breaking snowfalls, the sun is starting to come out, days are getting longer and warmer - summer is just around the corner, and soon it will be time for summer camp! The ADN 2024 Summer Camps Guide includes listings for over 100 camps for all ages.

Kenai Peninsula

CSI FORENSIC SCIENCE OVERNIGHT STEM ACADEMY

Location: Challenger Learning Center of Alaska, 9711 Kenai Spur Highway, Kenai

Grades/Age: Entering Grades 4-7 | Cost: Overnight, $650 w/all meals included; Day Camp, $475 w/lunch included

Description: CSI Forensic Sciences Academy is a week-long camp at Challenger Learning Center of Alaska, for your investigative 4-7th grader. Campers will unravel mysteries and collect evidence as they conduct several investigations through hands-on STEM projects. Field experts and professionals from different careers will teach techniques to solve cases like fingerprinting, dissection, conducting interviews, DNA and securing a crime scene. Overnight and Day Camp options available.

OCEAN EXPLORERS DAY CAMP

Location: Alaska SeaLife Center, Seward

Grades/Age: Ages 8-12 | Cost: $75/session or $400/week; Member discounts are available.

Description: Dive into Alaska’s marine ecosystems, discover marine animals and build a connection to nature. Learn how you can make a difference by becoming a SeaLife Conservation Agent. Daily, kids will engage in hands-on games and activities, explore the amazing views and wildlife within Resurrection Bay, have a snack and tour the Alaska SeaLife Center. It is a unique opportunity to learn about the wonders of Alaska in a socially interactive environment. Each day has a theme: animal metamorphosis, tide pool animals, whales, octopuses, otters, seals, sea lions, puffins and other seabirds.

CAMP K ON KENAI LAKE

Location: Cooper Landing

Grades/Age: Ages 6-17 | Cost: $625-$3,200 depending on camp session desired; tiered pricing and scholarships available

Description: Get away! Alaska’s longest-running, all-gendered overnight camp is nestled along the shores of Kenai Lake in Cooper Landing, a two-hour bus ride from Anchorage. Just a stone’s throw from main camp, and your own cabin is on a half-mile long beach with access to hiking trails, boating activities, large fields for outdoor games and an art building. This 160-acre campus within the Chugach National Forest is “wild Alaska” with everyday opportunities to be off the grid, experience wildlife and take in the epic beauty right outside your cabin door. Transportation from Anchorage included.

SOLID ROCK BIBLE CAMP

Location: 36251 Solid Rock Road, Soldotna; Bus service from Anchorage

Grades/Age: Grades 1-12 | Cost: Varies by program

Description: Since 1958, Solid Rock Bible Camp has provided the youth of Alaska with outdoor experiences to encourage a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Located on the central Kenai Peninsula on nearly 200 acres surrounding Miracle Lake, Solid Rock creates an environment that removes the distractions and expectations of everyday life and allows kids to explore decisions, friendships and faith in an environment that encourages connection and learning. Through camp activities and traditions, kids have the opportunity to test their limits, overcome challenges and build healthy relationships with peers and positive role models.

Lakeside: a dynamic, fast paced environment that fosters individual and team skills through all the best summer camp activities.

Wagon Train: live in an old west town and build horseback riding and outdoor skills with small group activities. Certified horsemanship instructors provide several hours of horse lessons daily.

Wilderness: adventure with experienced guides, hiking and canoeing the trails, lakes and rivers of the Kenai backcountry.

Sports: a unique combination of quality instruction from experienced coaches plus summer camp friends and fun; basketball, volleyball and wakeboard/waterski.

Programs are led by experienced staff with wilderness, horsemanship and waterfront safety certifications.
