The Alaska affiliate of the National Education Association this weekend endorsed Gov. Bill Walker for re-election.
Members of the NEA-Alaska Political Action Committee for Education voted on Saturday to support Walker, the group said in an emailed statement.
"For educators throughout Alaska, Gov. Walker is the right candidate," said NEA-Alaska president Tim Parker, in a statement. "His work to support forward funding for education and his commitment to address the issues of attracting and retaining quality educators fits with NEA-Alaska's positions and values."
NEA-Alaska is an organization of more than 13,000 members who work in Alaska's public schools, according to the group's website.
Walker also landed an endorsement on Friday from the Alaska AFL-CIO, the largest labor organization in the state.
Walker is running as an independent in a three-way race for the state's top elected office against Republican Mike Dunleavy and Democrat Mark Begich. On Friday, LGBTQ civil rights group Alaskans Together for Equality endorsed Begich.
The election is Nov. 6.
