Democrat Mary Peltola was sworn in as Alaska’s U.S. representative on Tuesday in Washington, D.C., making history as the first Alaska Native in Congress and the first woman to represent the state in the House of Representatives. From her swearing-in (both official and unofficial) to a reception hosted by the Alaska Federation of Natives in the nation’s capital, here’s a look at how the day unfolded.
