Alaska’s Court of Appeals has confirmed a two-century prison sentence for Nathanial Kangas, who murdered two Alaska state troopers in 2014.
Kangas had appealed his sentence, saying the judge improperly instructed the jury during his double-murder trial in 2016. The Court of Appeals disagreed but said Kangas can ask for a reduction in his jail term after serving 49 1/2 years. At that point, Kangas will be 69 years old.
Kangas killed troopers Patrick “Scott” Johnson and Gabriel “Gabe” Rich after the two arrived in Tanana to arrest his father.
