The Alaska Republican Party has hired an executive director to manage its day to day operations, as spokesperson Suzanne Downing steps down.
Josh Walton, a former legislative aide, replaces Downing as the party's sole full-time political staffer.
Walton will work under the party's unpaid chairman, Tuckerman Babcock.
The GOP left its old headquarters on Fireweed Lane earlier this year; while it looks for new offices, it will lease space on West Potter Drive from a Republican polling and consulting firm, Dittman Research.
Downing will move to being assistant treasurer for the party and plans to keep publishing her newsletter and blog, Must Read Alaska, which has functioned like a GOP organ.
