Letter: Let’s keep the polio vaccine

I never thought I would need to defend the polio vaccine. I had polio as a child and again now as post-polio syndrome. The zealots proposing to stop the vaccine have no science to back their claims. The virus never goes away — in your body or in nature. Recent cases in the New York area show it’s present. The Salk vaccine has saved millions of lives. It remains difficult for me not to express intense anger and disgust at these uninformed people. Ask any polio survivor if they think the vaccine should be stopped. Look to the science and results, not voodoo zealotry.
