Letters to the Editor

Letter: Alcohol ID rules in Anchorage should be uniformly enforced

I disagree with your editorial on requiring patrons to show ID for liquor purchases in bars and restaurants. No, it isn’t the Nanny State. It’s where someone like me — obviously a senior — or someone well known to the establishment they drink at can no longer ignore a license restriction because they will now be carded.

I worked at a convenience store where we sold alcohol. I had customers for whom I could recite their birthdays. I carded them. I carded acquaintances. I carded seniors. The same rule should apply anywhere you can buy alcohol. And maybe we do have more important problems but we can still do the little things. You can still do laundry while fighting cancer. My thanks to the Assembly.
