Letter: A shameful nominee

As a U.S. senator, in what parallel universe is it OK to offer your full support for a nominee like Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense? Sen. Dan Sullivan must think he has a chance to join that Trump cabinet in some capacity, if only he kisses the king’s ring well enough and long enough, showing his absolute fealty and full subjugation.

Senator, this looks nothing like advise and consent. Get a clue and do your job. There has never in the history of the U.S. been a less-qualified nominee put forth to lead our armed forces, even forgetting Hegseth’s long history of immature, public drunken antics, a credible allegation of rape and admitted pay-off to the victim, and dismissal from more than one past employer for serious cause.

What has become of us? Is this who we are now?
