Letters to the Editor

Letter: A costly legacy

To my grandchildren, and all the others: I apologize for the financial burden that my generation is giving you. I’m sorry that we elected Donald Trump again. Our nation accumulated an additional $7.8 trillion in debt during his first administration. That is about $23,500 per person in our country.

Short-term thinking overrode the need for the long-term stability that you deserve. We did not adequately consider how our decisions would impact your generation.

Please understand that although some recognized the gravity of Donald Trump’s reelection, not enough people voted to change course.

My hope is that you will learn from our mistakes. You deserve better than the future financial burden we have placed upon you.
