Letter: Political comments

Just a quick comment on politics in our lives. I can’t wait for all of the advertisements and the propaganda to end.

I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Mary Peltola this time around. I am absolutely amazed at the number of people in this country who are fans of Donald Trump. The man is amazing! He has no idea what he is talking about half the time, and the other half of the time he is lying out of both sides of his mouth. I can’t believe what we have come to in this country where a man with his mental capacity and ability to lie to the people who believe in him can still be close to tie with a legitimate candidate for the position. Our country is in big trouble for sure.

I do have one negative for Mary Peltola’s advertisements, though. It’s not hers, but it is done for her, for sure. The one that talks about the problem with bycatch and how she has done a great job in Washington, D.C., to curtail the amount of chum salmon being caught by trawlers is not being totally truthful with voters. They claim that because of what she has done, the bycatch of chum salmon has dropped but 80%. It having dropped by 80% is probably very truthful, but they are forgetting the fact that the chum salmon supply as a whole has probably dropped by a similar percentage. The chum run this year up the various rivers in Alaska has been devastated in general, which would drop the bycatch significantly. They probably should do a little better with analysis before making these comments.

Anyway, not too many more days and we will be done for another year or two.
