Letters to the Editor

Letter: A step forward

With all the political missiles flying back and forth, there is a chance you might have missed something very rare in Anchorage government: transparency.

Our mayor released a progress report on projects her administration has committed resources and plans for the future. What a wonderful idea. Inform the public what efforts are being made in a progress report.

When the political rhetoric of a campaign ends and the newly elected person assumes office, usually that’s the end of actual news and the beginning of headlines about putting out fires. Promises in a campaign might be forgotten or worse never intended to be addressed.

That’s political history almost everywhere. But not Anchorage. Here we have a brilliant mayor who is not afraid to display projects in progress.

Mayor Suzanne La-France, you are a breath of fresh air! I wish you the very best going forward.
