Letter: Gatekeeping

I saw what Speaker Mike Johnson said recently about accepting the results of the November election “only if he sees that it is fair.”

Johnson is violating his oath to uphold the United States Constitution by making himself the arbiter of what is fair. His pronouncement appears to beanother brazen example of his subrogating the will of the people to his own particular religion, which has Mike Johnson playing the role of God.

If obstinate individuals such as Johnson believe that their allegiance to their own interpretation of Christianity is greater than their duty to serve all Americans, then they should not be in the U.S. government, which is to be of the people, by the people and for the people.
