Letter: Incompetence in state government

With regard to the recent coverage of Alaska’s error-filled submission for road funds and the resulting loss of $52 million to the state: The only response I can muster to reading that article? ‘Wow!’

It seems to me there are two reasons why this could likely happen. One is that the state is hiring people who don’t possess the skill set to do the job. The other is that there is a lack of commitment. If getting your rightful share of funding isn’t a top priority, then what is?

Instead of interminable arguments and spent energy about cannibalizing the Permanent Fund dividend so we can pay for the state’s needs, how about taking care of business?
