Letter: Trustees and Trump

Dermot Cole reported that the Alaska Permanent Fund Corp. trustees are hiding facts, refusing to provide truthful info, keeping secret lease amounts disapproved, etc.

I suggest we do away with the Permanent Fund dividend altogether,  and that the trustees be removed and the Legislators decide on who serves as trustees for periods of two years. This could rotate so half are termed out every other year, for a maximum term of four years. I have sent messages to the entire Legislature and to my two representatives there several times, but one person is not sufficient to make them do anything.

And if any new trustee has conflicts of interest not clarified ahead of being appointed, they should be removed immediately, with any legal costs attached to that trustee.

Donald Trump has provided Gov. Mike Dunleavy and his top people the model to keep secret the most important of our considerations.  He takes donations and gifts that should not be allowed.

If you don’t want more of this variety of politics, from the attempted coup at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, to lies about immigrants eating people’s pets in Springfield, Ohio, do more than just vote. Contact me if you want ideas on what you can do, even if you are limited in mobility or energy. Time is short, less than two months. Don’t bother to mention that you wish you had done more.
