Letters to the Editor

Letter: Grateful for a good business

I have loved running since I was a kid growing up in Michigan, and was thrilled to see running events when my husband and I moved to Alaska in 1974.

That was 50 years ago, and I still love running (some call it fast walking) and participating in all the running events in Anchorage. Skinny Raven, having just celebrated its 30th anniversary, has done so much to promote, make accessible and encourage people of all ages and abilities to move their feet. They are a premier running shoe store as well as an amazing magnet for all things related to running.

The staff, headed by Daniel, and the race timing, headed by Mark, make it possible to participate in events all year round.

They are generous to the community with their knowledgeable staff and financial and in-kind support to school groups, the women’s prison, social and recreational clubs, and many nonprofit groups in Anchorage.

Along with Kaladi Brothers Coffee, we are fortunate to have these local businesses in town to keep a runner like me very happy.
