Letter: Crooked

It’s disheartening to hear federal workers characterized as “crooked.” The characterization distorts the very meaning of corruption when considering legislators of both parties who have been indicted for financial and moral corruption.

The twisting of the definition of corruption into “they don’t agree with me” is apparently the new normal. Have we forgotten that what made America great, what built bridges, what made peace possible, what increased life spans, and what eradicated diseases was simple competence?

We may have artificial intelligence, social media and Bitcoin, and yet, after thousands of years of human existence, competence has never, and will never, lose its value.
