A suggested twofold approach to start a discussion regarding law enforcement shootings. First, train officers in aiming at non-lethal target points on the human body that immobilize and are not “kill shots” in situations where they are not being fired upon. Second, require that officers first draw their Taser whenever the weapon they or others are facing is not a gun. Perhaps a one-warning policy: “Drop it or you get tased!” Non-compliance results in being tased.
