Letters to the Editor

Letter: Limit political ads

How many people believe that in November of election years, we need a law to prevent political ads from being published by the media, especially on TV, before Oct. 1? One month is all any politician should need to get his or her message out there.

And one month of most of this repetitive nonsense is about all that most of us can tolerate.

The media of course will yell bloody murder — they want such ads running year around for all the money they will make. And many politicians will also oppose minimizing their opportunities to advertise.

But all of us Alaskans who hate seeing and hearing the same garbage night after night need to — whoa, wait a minute, this is the Olympics’ fault, making us turn on regular broadcast stations.

OK, forget it — now that it’s after Aug 11, we all can get back to streaming without subjecting ourselves to any ads.
