Release of police body camera footage is a big issue around the country, not just in Anchorage. A few months, ago I listened to a Reveal podcast regarding Lexipol, a private consulting company that has contracts with a large percentage of police departments around the country. It appears the main function of Lexipol is to protect local police departments from liability via diversion, delay and obfuscation. I would like to know if Anchorage Police Department and other departments in Alaska have contracts with Lexipol.
