Be grateful we even have a local newspaper, staffed with journalists reporting local and regional news, to complain about. Research shows in 2023, local news sources disappeared at a rate of about 2.5 per week.
The State of Local News 2023, produced by the Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University, investigated the status of local news across the U.S. Included in this report is a watchlist of areas that are at risk for becoming a “news desert.” I urge you to review this report.
