Letter: Release body camera footage immediately

For years, the police of Anchorage delayed the use of body cameras. One has to ask: Do they have something to hide, or just want people to forget about an incident?

We had an incident a short period ago where a man with a long gun was shot because he lifted it toward the police. Home cameras disputed the police version of events, and as far as I know, the police have been quiet on this, after an initial disputable statement.

About a week ago, a young person in New York was shot by police on a Friday. The following Monday, the police camera footage was out to the public. Three days for a major police force, and our force wants 45 days. What a disgrace.

Mayor Suzanne LaFrance needs to step in, and this timeline has to be reduced to immediate release.
