Letters to the Editor

Letter: Give a listen

A recent insightful letter by Don Malherek, citing Buffalo Springfield lyrics, expressed a long-held perspective of my own: “What is old is new again.” The lyrics of that song are more true today than they ever were.

Expanding on his letter, I would add the lyrics of Barry Maguire’s “Eve of Destruction” and Hedgehoppers Anonymous’ “It’s Good News Week.” As well as Zager and Evans’ “In the Year 2525,” Bob Dylan’s (sung by Joan Baez) “With God On Our Side” and those by Phil Ochs.

W. B. Yeats’ poem “The Second Coming” (1921) laid it all on our doorstep. Check it out. Open the door.
